Regina Faye Latimore's Obituary
Regina Faye Latimore was born on September 27, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri and after a valiant battle with cancer she went on to her heavenly reward on Monday, September 12, 2016. She was the third child of Henry and Virginia McNeal. From the very beginning, her life was centered around the church and she was raised with a love for the Lord. The lessons of her youth anchored her and she did not depart from her devotion to the Lord. She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior in December of 1969.
On Friday, December 15, 1972, Regina married George Latimore, Jr. and she remained in this loving relationship until his death in March of 1987. Together George and Regina raised their two children: David Gregory and Edna Denise. Following in the footsteps of her parents, she raised both her children in the church and set an example for them of active Christian discipleship.
Regina’s love of the Lord was evident through her active participation in a variety of ministries anywhere she was a member. At Bethel Temple Church of Christ (Holiness) she served as the President of the Usher Board, President of the Christian Women Willing Workers (C.W.W.W) #1 and #2. Her thirst for learning lead her to serve as both a teacher for the Adult Women Sunday School class and a volunteer in Vacation Bible School. Her love of reading was evident in her service as the Founder of the Church Newsletter and Church Library. Later in life, God would lead her to join Trinity Mt. Carmel Baptist Church under Rev. Dr. Charles Roach. While there she served as secretary of the Pastor Aide Ministry and Co-Secretary for the Trustee Board. After the death of her mother, whom she cared for, she relocated to Salem, Missouri and joined New Harmony Church where she served as a volunteer in the Library and with the AWANA Club. Everywhere she went, her love for the Lord always resulted in her active service in ministry.
Regina’s service to God was not limited to the church but was also evident in her work outside the church. While in Salem she worked as a Bible study teacher and administrative assistant in the Recovery Ministry at the House of Peace and Prosperity, a residential facility for men recovering from addiction.
Regina worked for the Federal Government, as a Procurement Technician from August 5, 1979 until April 1997. Additionally, she worked at Edward D. Jones and Company retiring in January of 2008 as a Licensing Specialist.
Regina leaves behind: her son, David Gregory (Tammie) of Joliet, IL; her daughter, Edna Denise of St. Louis, MO; one sister, Muriel (Anthony) Taylor of Memphis, TN; three brothers, Stanford (Julie) McNeal, of Salem, MO, Aaron McNeal and David McNeal both of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren: Malcolm, Grace, Sydney, David II, Lauren, and Nina; six nephews, Michael, Sean, Reco, Stanford, Solomon, and Samson; six nieces, Barbara, Victoria, Stephanie, Synnamon, Nora, and D’ette; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
