Roderick Alphonso Pratt's Obituary
Rod Pratt was granted his wings on March 8, 2019. His final days were spent surrounded by friends and family that Rod had touched in some way throughout his very memorable life.
Rod was born on May 7, 1967 in Pinehurst, North Carolina. He was the second son of E. Barbara Pratt. As a young child, Rod moved to Saint Louis, Missouri with his family, joined New Paradise Missionary Baptist Church and attended St. Louis Public Schools and Ritenour High School.
Rod graduated from the University of Missouri-St. Louis with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Communication. There, he was elected President of The Black Student Association and joined the Forensics and Debate Club. Later, Rod attended New York University-Tisch School of the Arts and received a Producing Certificate.
As a film, television and video producer, Rod was responsible for all elements of a production, from conception through completion and occasionally, involved in the marketing and distribution process.
Rod possessed a joyous, humble and kindred spirit. He loved to socialize and spent a tremendous amount of time with his family and friends, sharing his passion and way of life. Rod was a visual storyteller, idea shaper, entertainer, artist and communicator.
Left to cherish Rod’s memories are loving family members: mother ~ E. Barbara Baldwin; brother ~ Malcolm Pratt; children ~ Amber, Seth and Kaleb; aunt ~ Marcella Coleman (Larry) and Constance Pratt; nieces ~ Imani, Jetoinne, Monay, Nakia, Chante, Chemia and Martines; nephews ~ Rashad, Nathaniel, Kodi, Jodie, Keith and Eugene; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, special friends and the Anderson Family.
Rod was preceded in death by his uncle, Alphonso Pratt; brother, William Baldwin and great-niece, Raivyn Pratt.
