Rosia Lee Flenoy's Obituary
Rosia Lee Flenoy was born on June 15, 1935 to the late Augustus Sr.
and Vhanas L. Peters in Palestine, Arkansas. She was blessed to have
two fathers whom loved her (Augustus Sr. and Lee Vester Smith) and a
total of twenty-five siblings whom she loved dearly. She committed her
life to Christ at an early age, attending Shiloh C.M.E. Church of Palestine.
Rosia departed this earthly world on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at
2:00 p.m.
Rosia attended Shiloh School in Palestine, where she won numerous
awards and certificates which she proudly displayed and showed to
everyone.
In 1952, she married Charles Flenoy and to that union two boys were
born: Charles Jr., whom preceded her in death as an infant and John C.
Flenoy. She also raised Joseph Gray as her son until his death in
1997.
Around 1990, Rosia moved to Saint Louis, Missouri for a fresh start,
where she continued to work and eventually retired due to health
reasons. As her health declined; she lived with her sister, Joyce Peters,
until her passing in 2016. Afterward, her brother, Augustus Peters, Jr.,
served as her caregiver until her final days.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one son ~ John C. Flenoy, Sr.
(Johnnie); four sisters ~ Maggie Peters (David) of Saint Louis,
Missouri, Essie Johnson (Harvey) of Highland, Indiana, Debra Akins
and Gail Wynne of Forrest City, Arkansas; seven brothers ~ Augustus
Peters, Jr. of Saint Louis, Missouri, Eugene Smith of Brooklyn, New
York, Calvin Smith of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Roosevelt Smith of Little
Rock, Arkansas, Jerry Smith of Marianna, Arkansas, Lloyd Smith and
Alvin Smith of Forrest City, Arkansas; six grandchildren ~ John
Flenoy, Jr. (Lisa), Christopher Flenoy (Moorisha), Stephanie Hill, Sheree
Hill, Lucy Flenoy and Wylene Gray; sixteen great grandchildren ~
Johntel, Xavier, MacKeya, Alicia, Jonnay, Da’Montez, Anthony, Tyliyah,
Kayden, Ashanti, Jaylin, Aiyonna, Madison, Chloe, Jaheim and Malik;
three great grandchildren ~ Marshawn, Raeni and Braylon. She also
leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She will be truly missed here on earth.
