Tony Curtis Boyd's Obituary
Tony Curtis Boyd was born on December 13, 1954 in Detroit,
Michigan to Sara Smith Boyd and Tom Boyd. The family moved to
Missouri in the late fifties and settled in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Tony attended Poplar Bluff Senior High School where he
graduated in 1972. He was a Vietnam veteran as he joined the
Navy after graduating from high school. He returned to Poplar
Bluff after his tour of duty and resided there until his death.
Tony accepted God at an early age one summer evening in the
1960’s and became a member of Central Baptist Church. He served
as the Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School as well as a
member of the choir. At the time of his passing he was a member
of First Liberty Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff
He enjoyed all sports but loved baseball as he starting playing at
an early age in the Civic League then moved to the Little League
and finally Babe Ruth League. He played third base. In his later
years he enjoyed going fishing with his friends.
He also enjoyed music, mostly R&B and the Blues. He loved to
sing and dance.
He is survived by his sister, Early Boyd Epps (Clabon), nieces
Vivian Boyd, Brittney Gambill, Lauren Gambill, stepchildren,
Ashley Harley-Moore, David Harley, Lashanti Robinson and many,
many cousins across the country. Let's not forget his faithful
companion for 20 years Victor the mean cat!
