Tonya Latrice-Finley McCaw's Obituary
Tonya Latrice Finley-McCaw was born on July 7, 1970, in Chicago,
Illinois at Cook County Hospital to the proud, loving parents Samuel
Finley, Jr. (Father); Dorothy Jo Finley (Mother); both have preceded her
in death.
Tonya completed Pre-School in Chicago, Illinois she started her
education in St. Louis, Missouri at Franklin Grade School, and from
that date to this date she lived life on her terms. Never failing to soar
for greater heights. Tonya graduated High School from Parkway South,
and this is when the accolades started. She ran for Prom Queen and
won. This was a beautiful moment for her, and she continued to soar
even after graduating High School. Tonya went to St. Louis College of
Health Careers getting her certification for a Phlebotomist,
Cosmetology School; Insurance Agent for Primerica; even with all that
she still managed to work helping others especially within her
community.
This led her to working with various political organizations and
becoming involved with many leadership positions, Moms’ on Demand;
being a field organizer, working with SEIU, St. Louis Region, standing
on pickets’ lines amongst her son Rasheen. Tonya has a great deal of
accomplishments that can’t be overlooked. She has done well.
Tonya has two sons, but raised three and loved them dearly. Rashaad
(33)’; Rasheen (29); Rasheed (Clay 26). Tonya met the man of her
dreams that soon became her husband, but he was her best friend first.
Rick took Tonya's hand in marriage July 10, 2008 and the rest is history.
One thing that needs to be known is that Tonya loved Ricky, and Ricky
loved Tonya.
Tonya gave her life to Christ at an early age and continued this
throughout her entire life. She loved the lord and attended church. She
became a faithful member of her church, The Worship Center. When
she wasn’t spending time with family or fighting to improve the quality
of life for people in her community, she loved to cook meals especially
on holidays, playing with her dogs, enjoyed traveling and spending time
with her grandchildren.
Tonya leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories to: husband ~ Ricky
McCaw; three sons ~ Rashaad, Rasheen and Rasheed; her sister ~
Teijuania Finley; one brother ~ Eljest Collier; and a host of family,
friends, colleagues, and all the children. Special thanks go out to
Candace Green best friend/cousin who has been there from beginning
to the end. We appreciate and thank you so much
