William Stovall III's Obituary
William Stovall, III was born December 31,1949 in Columbus, Mississippi to Luella Jones and William Stovall, Jr. He is the third of three children born to this union. His older sisters, Gwendolyn (Stovall) Betts and Lois (Stovall) Brown preceded him in transition from this life. After the loss of his parents as a child, he relocated to St. Louis, Missouri to reside with his aunt, Mary Ann McIntosh. “Junior” as he was affectionately called. He lived with this aunt, even as an adult. His aunt preceded him in transition.
Junior started his career in dietary services at St. Louis State Hospital. This love for food lead him to work at Theodoro Bakery for over 30 years. He enjoyed his work at the bakery so much, that he rarely took vacation time because he didn’t want to be “bored.”
Junior loved animals, mainly dogs, and especially his German Shepard, “Snowball.” After the loss of his dog, he volunteered at the Humane Society from time to time feeding the pets or simply talking to them.
Junior was unique in many ways. He had quick “come backs” when talking on any subject that added to his infectious smile and hearty laugh. His ability to laugh in any situation, left you smiling and laughing. He never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation about random fun topics while sipping on milk and Pepsi. He left a memorable impression on those who had met him. Those who got to know him, found him to be the jokester and the story teller. He had a certain ability to engage in fantasy that kept most people wondering if the story was serious or if he was joking (again!). His sense of humor was his trademark, and certainly will be one thing most remembered about him.
William Stovall, III transitioned from this life on October 20, 2025. He leaves to mourn his life: one nephew ~ Dr. Kenneth Mitchell (Durham, NC); his niece ~ Gwendolyn McDile (St. Louis, MO); and her children ~ Raymond McDile, Jr., Gwendolyn Ladi McDile, Olyvia McDile, and Armani Mangrum all of St. Louis, MO. Further, two nephews ~ Antoine Judkins and Shawn Williams, and his children ~ Tyler Williams and Nova Williams, all of New York. He is cherished by one special cousin ~ Mrs. Mary Guidry (Park Forest, IL) and loved by a host of other family and friends.
