William J. Swan's Obituary
William Joseph Swan William Joseph Swan, lovingly known as “Billy Joe," lived a long and meaningful life defined by dedication and resilience. He was born on June 1, 1936, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, where he was raised alongside his siblings, Catherine (Finch), Betty (McGee), and Susie (Lewis), all of whom preceded him in death. Joe graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School in Cape Girardeau and continued his education at Southeast Missouri State University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserve for two years, demonstrating an early commitment to duty and service. Throughout his life, Joe was known for his strong work ethic and determination. He held various positions in the Cape Girardeau and Jackson areas, including work at Marquette Cement Plant and in the Natural Gas & Pipeline industry. After relocating to the St. Louis area, he continued his career with Buckeye International, where he remained a dedicated employee until his retirement in August 2016. In a beautiful full-circle moment with Mitze, whom he shared a lasting and loving partnership. Joe leaves behind: his beloved wife ~ Mitze; his children ~ William Jr., Cassandra (Jeffrey Robinson), Kimberly (Kevin Harris [preceded in death]), Theresa, Dawn (Wilson Banks), and Misty (DCarlo Hutt). He was preceded in death by his son, Todd. He also leaves behind a legacy carried on by his grandchildren ~ Autumn, Mackenzie, Justin, Kennedy, Kaari, Jassandra, Jaila, Miles, Jeffrey II and Christian; as well as his great-grandchildren ~ Raven, Dylan, Clayton, Novah and Avallaan; one great-great-grandchild ~ Kingston; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends. Joe will be remembered for his silent yet steady presence and his sense of humor. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
