Willie Lee Haney's Obituary
Willie Lee Haney was born October 22, 1920 in Paulette, Mississippi
to Jim and Rachel Lockett. She was the baby in the family and was
often referred to as “Doll.” She had four brothers and two sisters; all
of whom preceded her in death.
Willie was united in Holy Matrimony to George Albert Haney, who
preceded her in death. To this union thirteen children were born;
three of whom (Edward, Earl, Raymond) preceded her in death.
Many years ago, Willie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior under
the leadership of Reverend Conner, and joined Springhill Missionary
Baptist (M.B.) Church in Carrollton, Alabama. Willie and her family
later relocated to St. Louis, Missouri and she joined West End Mount
Carmel (W.E.M.C.) M.B. Church. She served under the leaderships of
Reverends Spicer and Turner, and Bishop White. She loved her
church and dutifully served on the Mother’s Board until her health
failed. Family, friends, and neighbors often contacted her for support
and prayer; and she put her soul and heart into praying for them.
Over the years, she actively discussed the power and love of God
with her family, friends, and neighbors.
Mother Haney leaves to mourn her passing: five sons ~ George L.
(Delores), Willie G. (Erodita), Henry (Lillie), John (Van) and Rickey;
five daughters ~ Georgia Thornton-Pickens, Jean Mason (Ronald),
Wilda, Linda, and Janice; several grandchildren, great grandchildren,
and great-great grandchildren; a God Daughter, Penny Clayton, and a
host of relatives and friends.
