Dear Mom:
I knew this day would come – the day when the Lord called your name and said job well done my good and faithful servant. I knew it was time, as you were faced with yet another life threatening illness this year. Still you fought on – you kept your head held high and pushed through the pain and defied the dire medical prognosis.
Time after time you defied the odds – you rejected medical opinions saying “there is no hope”. Like a phoenix, you rose above the terminal diagnosis and once again became beckon of faith – a light that illuminated my path.
You kept the faith and praised the Lord, even when there was no apparent reason to do so. Through your faith, you reminded me that all things are possible with the help of the Lord. You were an inspiration to each one of your children: Charlene; Meckila; Michael and I. You epitomized the meaning of love. You followed God’s words and accepted everyone where they were. You demonstrated the meaning of “judge not, lest ye be judged”.
While I may not hear your melodious voice again on earth; I know you are in a far better place than I. You are now with the Lord. You will be missed more than you will ever know, but I am comforted in knowing that I will see you again at our reunion in heaven. I await the time when I hear you sing, “Precious Lord, take my hand, lead me on, let me stand I’m tired, I’m weak, I’m lone, through the storm, through the night lead me on to the light take my hand precious Lord, lead me home.
I love you Mom!
