Willie Lee Huffmon's Obituary
Willie Lee Huffmon was born February 10, 1946 in Sherrill, Arkansas to the
union of Marion and Euretha Huffmon in which four children were born. Both
parents and two brothers, Benjamin and Samuel preceded him in death. On
July 12, 1975 Willie married Barbara Ann Dotson and to this union was
blessed with two sons, Jamar (who preceded him in death) and Jelani. On
Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the Missouri Veterans Home of St. Louis, where
he received attention and excellent care, Willie left this existence for his
eternal life. Before departing this life, he celebrated his 47th wedding
anniversary on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. He was a member of St. Alphonsus
Liguori “Rock” Catholic Church.
Willie was educated in the Pine Bluff, Arkansas Public School District. He
attended Merrill High School and graduated in the class of 1965. He would
brag and be proud to let you know that he still holds his high school Track
and Field record in the 400-meter dash.
Willie was a Vietnam era Veteran who served in the United States Navy from
1965 to 1973. Upon returning home, he worked several jobs before
obtaining employment with the United States Postal Service and retired after
30 years.
Willie enjoyed spending time with his sons, attending track and field meets,
basketball, baseball and soccer games. He was a devoted member of the
St. Louis Blues Track Club’s Coaching Staff. He coached all age groups in the
Long Jump, Triple Jump and other field events for many years. He enjoyed
being with family and friends and was a champion card player; Poker, Bid
Whist, Spades, Tunk, Hearts, and Pity Pat, to name a few.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory: his wife ~ Barbara Huffmon; son ~ Jelani
Huffmon (Mariela); grandson ~ Jamarion Huffmon; sister ~ Juanita Randall;
nephews ~ Samuel Murphy (Lutz), and Carlos Randall (Nicole); nieces ~
Sharon Dixon, and Shirley Murphy (Ron); aunt-in-law ~ Janie Raymond; uncle
-in-law ~ Ronald King (Mary); sisters-in-law ~ Vicky Dubose (Stanley) and
Celestine Dotson; and brother-in-law ~ William Dotson. Also, to cherish
memories are many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
